The School of Ministry and Leadership Development (SoMLD) was established in 2005 as a practical channel towards equipping the body of Christ for works of service — Ephesians 4:11–13.
Northmead believes in the priesthood of all believers. SoMLD is the most tangible way the church realises its strategic goal: “To build a strong, vibrant, mission-minded church base, where every member takes joy, maturely, in doing their part of extending the kingdom of God.”
Every Covenant Partner — the church’s term for a member — is required to go through SoMLD at some stage in their walk with the Lord, as directed by the Pastoral Team.
Teaching runs in cycles, so participants may join at any point in the progression. All must eventually complete the full cycle of mandatory course levels before certification.

A fully-fledged Christian university is planned.
Plans are underway for Northmead to eventually establish a Christian university, growing out of the work SoMLD began in 2005.
